Bible Characters and their stories

Today, let’s welcome Katrina D Hamel, as she introduces us to some amazing Bible Characters and their stories. Then, we’ll get started on her book, As the Stars, for our first book club read! Chances are, if you’re here on Aryn’s site, you’re a Christian fiction lover. If we were sitting over coffee right now, we’d have so much to chat about! That’s one of the best things about books—we can share adventures and experiences even if we can’t meet face-to-face. On top of this, we travel the same pages yet each reader takes away something unique. I think this … Read More

Yellow Background, Finding Joy: It's a Choice, It's a Lifestyle

“Finding Joy” by J.C. Lafler is a story about the challenge of finding joy in life’s most trying circumstances, and corresponding verses in the Bible that lead us to choose joy.

This book is inspiring, and filled with hope in the midst of trials. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a light read, willing to accept a personal challenge, and not afraid of a few tears!

ArynFaith, Christian Nonfiction14 Comments

Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to understand them. Dive deep into the Bathsheba Bible Story and walk away with new understanding! Bathsheba in the Bible does seem to be a battleground story. You could argue about whether she was innocent as a lamb or guilty of every sin in the book. There’s also all of those crossroads David ignored, where he chose not to fight his desires. But take the time to get to know more than just the Bathsheba Bible story, but also the woman behind them. See yourself in her, and wow!! I was a little … Read More

Author Steven James Books Are Great Christian Suspense Novels

ArynChristian Fiction2 Comments

I thoroughly enjoy Sci-Fi. You can call me a Trekkie and I wouldn’t mind. Shows like Sliders and Eureka are fun! But they all lack that thread of faith, of being able to trace the fingerprints of God. I also enjoy Crime shows like JAG and NCIS. They cover some awful stuff, but Justice wins. A little graphic sometimes, but satisfying to see the good guys solve the case. Steven James new book, Synapse, has the best of both of those, without any bad language or graphic displays that you have to cover your eyes for. While this is a … Read More

Culture Shock: How One Girl Challenges Assumptions

ArynChristian Fiction14 Comments

I’ve seen Culture Shock examples a few times, but until I read Past Forward, I had no idea how many cultural assumptions there are in my own life! Nothing quite as dramatic as Willow’s but: If you want me to know something, you will tell me. (drives a few people in my family crazy, because they ask me questions and all I can say is “I don’t know, I didn’t ask” ) It’s hard to Enjoy downtime  because my brain is thinking of all the things I “should” be doing. I’m still trying to connect the Christian churches in the … Read More
