Best Biblical Fiction Authors and 6 Reasons to Read Their Books

Biblical fiction authors can teach us so much, even through fiction, that will grow our faith, and our understanding of the culture and relationships that we can so easily miss. I realize that there are many awesome nonfiction sources for this information, but as Jesus taught many things through story, I think this is a perfectly wonderful way for us to learn as well. Some friends and I were out for a Mom’s afternoon recently when the topic of Biblical fiction came up. Now if you know me at all, you know I read a lot. My favorite categories are … Read More

Fun Light hearted books full of adventure

Here’s a series of funny, light hearted books well worth reading! I couldn’t put Aiming for Love down. It might have something to do with walking a baby who wouldn’t sleep, needed to be walked, and I can still navigate the house while reading on my kindle. But I doubt it. I think it was the storyline. It was very compelling! Brides of Hope Mountain is a unique historical romantic comedy trilogy of funny light hearted books. I’ve now gotten to read all 3, and couldn’t put them down. We have one of those fun combinations today. It’s a Celebrate … Read More

I mean, traveling about the world, and back and forth through time should be exhausting. But Kristy takes us on the adventure with a smile and a wink, and the only jetlag involved is that which comes from staying up too late reading (again)!!! (Who, me? Would I do such a thing?? Yes. How important is keeping your promise? On a scale of one to ten, where would you place the importance of keeping your word? I would venture to say that It’s not meaningless (1) but is it a consistent 10? Jesus said: “let your yes be yes, and your no, no.” (Matthew 5:37) Basically, mean what you say, and follow through. A lot of things are easier said than done, or we wouldn’t be urged to “count the cost in advance.” Can we talk about what keeping a promise means for a bit, then I will share a great book I’ve just … Read More

The Hidden Treasure of Jews in Austria

ArynChristian Fiction4 Comments

I love historical fiction. It opens up new experiences. For example, in today’s book, Hidden Among the Stars, where we meet the Jews in Austria before World War II. Such a tough time in history, that was. Normal everyday people got caught in the chaos of the war. On both sides. The Jews were definitely targeted harder than most, as our enemy the devil has it out for God’s chosen people. I have not studied much about Austria, aside from my mom’s favorite movie, The Sound of Music. (Yes, I realize that great liberties were taken, and it’s nothing like … Read More

Behind The Scenes in her House of Dreams

Open book, L. M. Montgomery Biography

House of Dreams. Anne Shirley had one. It was safe, happy, filled with love and laughter, heartache, Jesus and joy. I have spent a lot of time with her there in her House of Dreams. The Anne of Green Gables series has been one of my all-time favorites since I was 8, I believe. It has never failed to shock me when I meet someone who has never read them. (But it’s becoming more and more common that people have no idea what I am talking about here!) We all have a House of Dreams, real or imagined. Maud’s imagination … Read More
