Today we get to explore the new NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls!
I don’t believe my idea of a “perfect Bible” exists. If it had all of my favorite features, it would be WAY too big and heavy for everyday use.
Things like maps and definitions, cross-references and mid text explanations and footnotes, wide margins, color-coded, places to draw and take notes, etc. which is why I’m okay with having several Bibles, and taking advantage of Bible apps.
I’ve been brave enough to write in my Bible for about 20 years now, but I haven’t had one actually designed with that in mind.
And I’ve been wanting a coloring Bible for myself for a while now.
When the sign up for this tour showed up from Read with Audra, I was so excited. And this is a familiar translation, feminine, and fun.
So here goes!

My Thoughts on the Beautiful Word Coloring Bible:
This Beautiful Word coloring Bible lives up to its name! Pink may not be my color of choice, but I don’t even care. I appreciate enough else about it that the cover color doesn’t matter.
A sturdy cover that will handle a decent amount of wear (handy if you are going to take it with you, color and write in it, etc.)
I really like the pages being thicker than standard Bible pages. I don’t feel like I’m going to rip something trying to keep up with certain Bible Study Teachers!
The wide margins are great for notes or your own artwork. You could even turn Scriptures into prayers here.
The illustrations and word art are great! They do not take over, but you do not have to turn more than a couple of pages to find one
Especially for a children’s Bible, I’m disappointed that it doesn’t have a “fast facts” page or box at the start of each book. That is one feature that I find so helpful in any Bible. Help me know the main characters, events, etc and how this part connects to the greater message of the Gospel.
Along the same lines, the footnotes are extremely limited. I know this is for artistic girls, and the whole ‘space is at a premium’ thing factors in here. But I was raised in good churches, but I was 30 before I realized that Ninevah was the capital of Assyria, which makes the book of Jonah make SO MUCH more sense!! So I’m kind of partial to having helpful information scattered through my Bible.
The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible Family
I didn’t realize there was a whole family of these coloring Bibles, but here are my favorites:
- The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Teen Girls
- Large Print with Purple and Tan Cover (My favorite)
- Hardcover with 500 Full Page Illustrations
My opinion is that the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is a fantastic creative outlet. With modern technology, the Pros far outweigh the Cons, with the expectation that this is not the only source of Biblical learning.
Which special young lady in your life might you give this Bible to?
